Are you a victim of crime? The SFDA Victim Services Division can help.
The Victim Services Division provides comprehensive advocacy and support to victims of crime and witnesses to crime. We provide services in English, Cantonese, Mandarin, Spanish, and Vietnamese. The services we provide include: assistance with "Victim Compensation Program" claims; crisis intervention and emergency assistance; help navigating the criminal justice system; resources and referrals; restitution; witness relocation; transportation; and many more. What is the state "Victim Compensation Program"?
Under California law, qualifying victims of crime may receive financial assistance for losses resulting from a crime when they cannot be reimbursed by other sources. The Victim Compensation and Government Claims Board, Victims of Crime Program, administers California's Crime Victim Compensation Program. The following losses may be covered by the Program: Medical, Dental, Mental Health Counseling, Wage Income Financial Support, Funeral Burial, and Job Retraining. If your family member is a homicide victim:
We support families of homicide victims by providing: funeral and burial assistance funds of up to $5,000; crisis intervention and grief counseling; crime scene cleanup; and moving assistance or emergency shelter for qualified individuals. Call us for more information: 553-9044.
If you are a LGBT crime victim:
Many crimes against LGBT victims are vastly underreported. District Attorney Gascón's Office has a specialized LGBT Victim Services Unit. The unit is comprised of a LGBT victim advocates who are experienced in serving LGBT victims of sexual assault and domestic violence. Call us for more information: 553-9044.
